digital infrared of Melbourne's west

almost looks like Europe!

Canon 1DMIII with OM 28mm f/2.8 lens and Hoya R72 filter, 20sec exposure.

it is Winter here but he doesn't snow here. The infrared creates the "Wood's effect" which turns green grass and foliage a light colour while darkening blue sky and water to almost black.

almost! i was about to ask when you went!

that is a stunning image gaz, the colours and lighting the mood, just everything!

I was actually about 20min late getting there, the sun went under a storm cloud and after waiting 45min for it to come out again today, I realised the storm was building as a stationery one and not moving to let the sun come through and light the wind mill and chapel, so I decided a 20sec exposure in the shadow of a big grey cloud.

Not optimal for IR work, but at least the sun lit the background and created an almost sunset appearance.

I didn't add any colours, just adjusted WB, levels and maybe saturation a touch.

arh well there you go! either way its still a very lovely shot! even if it's not what you were hoping for... ps i think that storm you mentioned, i believe we're getting the outer ring of it
