I had a choice of Canon 5DMII or the new Panasonic GH-1, and sorry guys, the Panny one out because of its size and its amazing video capabilities as well as the ability to put almost ANY lens on it - unfortunately it seems it will not be available until July-August.
So, I have ordered a Canon EOS adapter for it so I can use my Canon lenses wide open for some lovely shallow depth of field and nice bokeh stuff and a Lens baby composer.
Now hopefully I will get these in time for a quick conference trip to Darwin on 23rd June-28th June and then return via Adelaide for a couple of nights there on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th before coming back to the swine flu capital of the world - Melbourne.
If anyone is in Darwin or Adelaide on those dates and would like to catch up for coffee/meal/play with new toys or even some modeling to test out my toys (perhaps - if I get time as my schedule looks tight), feel free to send me a note.

I plan on doing a shoot with a very very thin model, and she is verrry beautiful, and the theme is "anorexia" etc...
she wants to do a cliche image of her with a measuring tape around her body which im sure will be great, but the main image i have stuck in my head is her in her underwear (but not skimpy or sexy, ones that young girls wear with small flower prints etc to enhance the innocence) and she is sucking her stomach in, infront of a mirror. im thinking of her stnading on the side, looking into the mirror, hands on her stomach as if she's pushing it in, and having the light on the side of her stomach.
Any tips on my idea, or any other ideas you might have??
Perhaps you could do a search on DA for "mirror" and get some ideas - see what has worked and what hasn't.
There is a wonderful very experienced model near you who presents this option:

and for lighting and pose, you could examine:

or you could go the higher contrast, side lit route as in:

it is a great photographic opportunity to experiment with both pose and lighting - take your time, don't be hurried, keep trying different options until it works for you. I you give up too quickly you will not have learned much.
research your options, experiment with lighting on yourself at that location before hand if possible - even better if you can use tungsten lighting so you can see the lighting effects (just use a custom white balance when it comes to take the shots - or other white balance technique).
may your model be a patient one
have fun with your concept.
